These "Father & Son" cards are pretty cool. We got to see pictures of the old cards and got to read a nice story written by the son about his father. This Buddy Bell story is similar to the oft-told story about Mickey Mantle and his father Mutt Mantle. It looks like Gus Bell was a bit nicer to his son than Mutt Mantle was.
I'd love to see Topps revive this subset. With so many players now being 2nd gen, I think it would make a nice set.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been cool to see a subset of these cards in the 1990s. You could have the Boones (3rd gen), the Bells (3rd gen), the Alous, the Griffeys, the list goes on. Perhaps it should be a subset once every 15 years or so.
