1976 Topps Traded #58T - Ron Reed

  • Ron Reed was a starter for most of his career before going to the Phillies after the 1975 season.
  • The Phillies made Reed a reliever in 1976 and he started a total of nine games from 1976 until the end of his career in 1984.
  • Reed had a good year in 1976 (8-7, 2.46 ERA, 14 saves) and was a good setup man and occasional closer for the next several years.

  1. He is one of only five pitchers in MLB history to have 100 wins, 100 saves and 50 complete games. The other four are Ellis Kinder, Firpo Marberry, Dennis Eckersley, and John Smoltz.
