1976 Kellogg's #47 - Vida Blue

  • What did he do to deserve a 1976 Kellogg's card?
    • Vida had a good year in 1975 -- he was 22-11 with a 3.01 ERA
    • Started the 1975 All Star Game -- allowed back-to-back solo HRs to Jimmy Wynn and Steve Garvey. Allowed two runs in two innings.
    • Had his third (and final) 20-win season in 1975
  • 1976 Highlights:
    • Had an even better year in 1976 -- he didn't win as many games, but most of his other stats were better
    • In 37 starts he was 18-13 with a 2.35 ERA
    • Was sold to the New York Yankees on June 15 for $1.5 million,  but the sale was voided by Commissioner Bowie Kuhn.
