- Marc Hill was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1970. Marc played in the minors from 1970-1973 and got his first bit of major league action at the end of the 1973 season (0 for 3 in one game).
- Hill started the 1974 season in AAA Tulsa. He came back up to St. Louis in mid-July but playing opportunities for Marc were rare since the Cardinals had Ted Simmons starting at catcher. Hill played in ten games and batted .238 in 1974. After the 1974 season Hill was traded to the San Francisco Giants for Ken Rudolph and Elias Sosa.
- Hill shared time with several other catchers (mostly Dave Rader and Mike Sadek) for the next two years. In 1975 Marc batted .214 in 72 games and in 1976 he batted .183 in 54 games.
- Hill got the bulk of the playing time behind the plate for the Giants in 1977 and 1978. Marc batted .250 with 9 HR in 112 games in 1977 and batted .243 in 117 games in 1979.
- Marc's offense dropped off in 1979. He batted .207 in 63 games and didn't play after July 24 due to an injury.
- Hill started the 1980 season with the Giants but he didn't play much due to the acquisition of Milt May. Hill was batting .171 in 17 games when he was sold to the Seattle Mariners on June 20. Marc batted .229 in 29 games for the Mariners to finish the 1980 season. Hill became a free agent after the 1980 season and signed with the Chicago White Sox.
- The White Sox had Carlton Fisk at catcher and he rarely missed games. Hill played in 16 games in 1981 (mostly as a late-inning replacement) and went 0 for 6 at the plate. In 1982 Marc batted .261 in 53 games (88 at bats).
- Hill batted .226 in 58 games (133 at bats) in 1983. He wasn't used in the 1983 ALCS. Marc batted .233 in 77 games in 1984.
- Hill batted .133 in 75 at bats in 1985 and .158 in 19 at bats in 1986. Marc was released on May 27, 1986. The White Sox signed Hill for the 1987 season on October 2, 1986 but they released him a week later.
- Marc managed Chicago's class A Daytona Beach ballclub in 1987. He also managed in Seattle's farm system from 1992-1994 and in the Pittsburgh Pirates' organization from 1995-1997. Marc also has been on the coaching staffs of the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros.
