Secret Santa Goodies

McCann Can Triple from A Rookie (baseball) Card Collector organized a Secret Santa activity for our little blogosphere. It was fun for me to figure out what my blogger would like for Christmas. Hopefully he/she will like what I sent. Here is what I got:

At first glance one might say, "whoopee--a bunch of commons." But these cards complete my 1980 and 1981 Topps sets and get me much closer to filling the gaps in my 1975 Topps set (I need three more cards for that one). Cool!

An assortment of various Giants. Some from my wantlist (the Donruss and Fleer cards) and some that I hadn't heard of -- an Andres Galarraga jersey card, a very thick Fred Lewis autograph card, and a Bowman chrome Pablo Sandoval. I guess the two football cards were thrown in because Santa thought I was from the Bay Area (I'm actually from Phoenix).
Thanks for the cards, whoever you are! And thanks to McCann Can Triple for organizing this. I'm looking forward to doing this again next year. :)

The Topps set is complete--thanks Dean family!!

I got a nice surprise in my mailbox today. Mr. Dean from the 1980 Topps Blog sent me a mailing with some 1978, 1980, and 1981 Topps cards from my wantlist. But the best surprise was in a top loader. It was Mr. Billy Williams, card #525, in all his glory.
Now that I have the 1976 Topps set completed, I'll concentrate on completing my 1976 Kellogg's set. After that I'll work on SSPC and Hostess. Thanks again!!!

Reg-gie! Reg-gie! Reg-gie! (thanks Carl Crawford Cards)

I got a cool mailing from Carl Crawford Cards. I can't get to the scanner right now so I can't scan it, but it is #500---Reggie Jackson. I picked up two other cards on eBay. Now I'm only two cards away from completing the 1976 Topps set:

#48 Dave Concepcion
#525 Billy Williams

Thanks for the Reggie---I'll be sending some '73 and/or '76 cards. :)

Thanks again Captain Canuck

The Captain (Waxaholic) sent me some Giants want list stuff from my Giants blog. Thanks for sending the goodies and a return package is on the way! :)

If anyone else has anything on my Giants want list, please let me know and hopefully we can arrange a trade of some sort. I have a lofty goal of collecting as many Giants team sets as possible.

Thanks mrhaverkamp!

  • Three 1976 Topps cards arrived today, the product of a trade with mrhaverkamp at The Bench. They are #202 (AL ERA Leaders), #348 (Mickey Cochrane ATG), and #350 (Lefty Grove ATG). Now I'm five cards away from completing the 1976 Topps set!

  • The cards left are:

  • #48 Dave Concepcion

  • #345 Babe Ruth ATG

  • #500 Reggie Jackson

  • #525 Billy Williams

  • #650 Thurman Munson

  • Once I can get a hold of those cards, then Phase 2 of the 1976 Project (Kellogg's) will get underway. Then it's on to Hostess and SSPC.

  • By the way, I'm also working on an ambitious project to get a hold of as many NY/SF Giants cards as possible. I started a blog (called A Giant Blog) that will chronicle my adventures in collecting Giants cards. Right now all that is on there is a want list, but I'll post other stuff too. It won't be an "everyday" type of blog, but I'll post to it 2-3 times a week. :)

Thanks Johngy!!!

Johngy looked at my 1976 want list and filled a HUGE portion of it. He sent me 34 cards, which means I'm down to eight cards to complete the set! I still lack:
  • Thurman Munson
  • Billy Williams
  • Reggie Jackson
  • Lefty Grove
  • Mickey Cochrane
  • Babe Ruth
  • AL ERA Leaders
  • Dave Concepcion

Thanks again and I'll be on the lookout to help someone else with a wantlist as soon as I get my hobby room back. We're doing a remodel and I'm out of the hobby room for a couple of weeks. :)

Thanks Captain Canuck!

Captain Canuck at waxaholic sent me four 1976 Topps cards from my wantlist. Now I only need 40 cards to complete my 1976 Topps regular and traded set. Some reciprocal cards are on the way! :)
