- What did he do to deserve a 1976 Kellogg's card?
- Frank Tanana and Nolan Ryan were a great 1-2 punch for a few years in California
- Tanana went 16-9 with a 2.63 ERA in 1975
- Frank led the AL with 269 strikeouts in 1975
- Finished 4th in AL Cy Young Award voting in 1975
- 1976 Highlights:
- Made the AL All Star team
- Pitched the last two innings of the All Star Game and allowed three runs -- Cesar Cedeno hit a 2-run homer off of Frank in the 8th inning.
- Went 19-10 with a 2.43 ERA and completed 23 of his 34 starts
- Finished third in AL Cy Young Award voting
- This is my favorite card of the 1976 Kellogg's set. Frank seems to come right out of the card.
I'm going to make an attempt to collect as many baseball cards as possible from 1976. I was 9 when the 1976 Topps baseball cards came out. I have most of those cards, but I'd like to expand and get the other cards from this great year.
Love that card. I'll have to get one of those.
ReplyDeletewow an actual action shot on a Kellogg card! Most of them look posed, but it looks like Frank actually just threw the ball!
ReplyDeleteIf only Capn Crunch had been made by Kellogg... I'd have a lot more of these cards!
