It seems like there have been a lot of cards lately of players who didn't play in the majors in 1976. Don DeMola pitched for the Montreal Expos in 1974 and 1975. DeMola was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1970.
Don pitched in the Yankees' system in 1970 and 1971 and then was released by the Yankees in 1972. As the card says, he didn't play in 1972.
DeMola was picked up by the Montreal Expos in 1973 and he pitched in the Expos' system in 1973. Don started the 1974 season with the Expos and was up and down during that season. DeMola was 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in 25 games (1 start) for the Expos in '74.
Don pitched in 60 games for the Expos in 1975. DeMola went 4-7 with one save and had a 4.15 ERA in 1975.
DeMola was injured and missed the 1976 season (except for one appearance in AA). Don tried to pitch in the minors in 1977 and 1978 but wasn't effective and retired after the 1978 season at the age of 25.
Don is now in the fur business on Long Island and also installs entertainment systems and does some baseball instruction. Here is his website.
I'm going to make an attempt to collect as many baseball cards as possible from 1976. I was 9 when the 1976 Topps baseball cards came out. I have most of those cards, but I'd like to expand and get the other cards from this great year.
