Many of the 84 Tigers credit him as the calming veteran influence that team needed to win even though his stats didn't show it in 1984.<br /><br />He led the AL in HR in 1985, which was a big deal here. 1987 was a great year for the Tigers winning in a year that they had no business winning and Evans' accomplishments have been forgotten. I think he's in the top 10 all time in walks. <br /><br />My sister waited for him to leave a men's room at a Friendly's restaurant to have him sign a napkin for me.
